Bladeless LASIK

Bringing Bladeless LASIK Eye Surgery to Norwood, Massachusetts!

We know the decision to have LASIK surgery in Boston is an important one. For this reason, we take great care in determining what is best for you as our patient. That is why we are pleased to offer blade-free LASIK treatment using the FS200 Femtosecond Laser, the most advanced method of laser vision correction available today.

LASIK Surgery Norwood

Dr. Violin performs LASIK surgery for greater Boston in two steps. During step one, Dr. Violin creates a corneal flap. During step two, Dr. Violin gently folds the flap back to perform the laser procedure that corrects your vision. Traditionally, the corneal flap has been created using a thin metal blade. The FS200 Femtosecond Laser is a 100% blade-free technique used to perform the critical first step in the LASIK procedure: creating the corneal flap. The FS200 Femtosecond Laser method uses tiny, rapid pulses of laser light to create your corneal flap—instead of using a metal blade—during the first step of LASIK. Each pulse of light passes through the top layers of your cornea and forms a microscopic bubble at a specific depth and position within your eye that is determined by Dr. Violin. The FS200 Femtosecond Laser moves back and forth across your eye, creating a uniform layer of bubbles just beneath your corneal surface. Because of the unique way in which the FS200 Femtosecond Laser method creates a precisely positioned layer of bubbles just beneath the surface of your eye, it creates a smooth, even surface after your flap is lifted. With the FS200 Femtosecond Laser, a blade never touches your eye.

FS200 Femtosecond LaserUnlike the one-dimensional cut made by a blade, the FS200 Femtosecond Laser method gives Dr. Violin the ability to tailor the dimensions of your corneal flap based on what's best for your eye. Everything from the circumference of your flap to the angle of its edges can be precisely determined. This is important because everyone's eyes are shaped a little differently. Having a corneal flap that's individualized to the patient contributes to excellent postoperative vision. A corneal flap created with the FS200 Femtosecond Laser  method also"locks" back into position after the LASIK procedure is performed and rapidly begins to heal. Because of the superior accuracy and customization, certain patients who were ineligible for LASIK may now be able to have treatment.

The FS200 Femtosecond Laser has been used successfully on hundreds of thousands of eyes and we trust this advanced technology to deliver exceptional results. Our commitment is to provide you with the ultimate in comfort, safety, and outstanding vision. LASIK with the FS200 Femtosecond Laser can help you achieve all of this—while it delivers the added assurance of knowing you're being treated with the most advanced technology there is.
