While Medical Eye Care Associates, P.C. is most widely known for the latest advances in vision correction and enhancement, we now offer cosmetic enhancement procedures to help our patients look and feel their best. Our talented physicians are able to help refresh the appearance of bags underneath the eyes and reduce sagging eyelids. Dr. Helen Moreira is available for a consultation to help you determine if any of the below are options for you to enhance your appearance, improve your vision, or improve your confidence!
As we age the muscles surrounding our eyes naturally begin to weaken and the skin surrounding them begins to stretch. This phenomenon can lead to excess fat above or below the eye, sagging eyebrows, bagginess, or drooping lids. These effects can change appearances to varying degrees and can age otherwise youthful looking individuals.
Blepharoplasty is a common cosmetic procedure used to achieve a more alert, youthful appearance, without dramatically changing what makes you look like you. Most commonly, blepharoplasty is used to remedy the appearance of "droopiness" surrounding the eyes. Blepharoplasty can involve the removal of excess skin, muscle, or fat to achieve a more desired appearance around the eye. Beyond aesthetics, blepharoplasty can also improve peripheral vision.
Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for hypotrichosis. Hypotrichosis simply means"inadequate eyelashes". Latisse® is believed to work by increasing the length of the growth phase of the eyelash hair, and by increasing the number of hairs formed during this growth phase. Latisse® is a once a day treatment. It is applied at night, to the base of the eyelashes, with special applicators that are included in the Latisse® kit.
Results may be seen as early as 8 weeks after beginning treatment with Latisse®, with full results in approximately 12 to 16 weeks. Eyelash growth and thickening are gradual, over time. Latisse® is not a replacement for mascara, and mascara may be used on your lashes in addition to Latisse®.
Latisse® does require a prescription from your doctor. The Eye Care professionals here at Medical Eye Care Associates are fully qualified to prescribe Latisse® and would be happy to evaluate you to determine if Latisse® is right for you.
