Dr. Muakkassa is a board-certified ophthalmologist, practicing in the greater Boston area. Dr. Muakkassa specializes in medical and vitreoretinal diseases. Her practice includes general eye care, glaucoma evaluation and treatment, and cataract surgery. Dr. Muakkassa focuses primarily on diseases and disorders of the retina, including anti-VEGF treatments for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
She received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her ophthalmology residency at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Following residency, Dr. Muakkassa did further training as a medical retina fellow at the Tufts Medical Center.
